As a part of supporting Governmental activities during the Pandemic situation, Our department, Sociology &Social Work conducted Online Vaccine Mapping Survey as directed by the district Collector, Madurai on 03.07.2021. They have allotted 13 blocks for our college, from this 8 blocks were allotted for Sociology &Social Work department and remaining 5 blocks were allotted for NSS.

   Sociology &Social Work department Staff and Students conducted Online Vaccine Mapping Survey at 8 blocks. The blocks were Alanganallur, Kallikudi, Elumalai, Kalanthari, Chekkanurani, Chellampatti, Thodappa and Karungalankudi.

These are the total number of peoples who had completed their first dose vaccine in their respective blocks and all these details were submitted to JDCE office.

                                     Report on Anandham - Police Well Being Programme

     The Orientation on “Anandham” - Police Well Being   Programme for the Family Members and Police Personnel was organized by Department of Sociology and Social Work, Fatima College Maduari on 08.08.2019. Mrs. V.Sofia Adaikala Mary, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and Social Work welcomed the gathering. Dr. M. Meenakumari, Head, Department of Sociology and Social Work Honoured the chief guests. Mrs. Lilly Grace, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madurai, Tamil Nadu and Dr. M. Kannan, Assistant State Nodal Officer, Tamil Nadu Police Well-Being Programme, Madurai.

    In her Inaugural Address Mrs. Lilly Grace, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madurai mentioned that this new programme was initiated for the families of Police personnel. To deal with this kind of new innovative programme, Commissioner of Police, Madurai, Tamil Nadu cordially instigate this programme named Comprehensive Development Programme for the families and Police personnel, she said. This programme includes the baseline survey by the students among the family members of Police Personnel. After, the data collected through survey, the implementation of new methods of training and strategies will be adopted for the welfare of Police Personnel and their family members she added. Also, she explained in detail on the principles to follow before, during and after the data collection by the students.

    In connection with “Anandham” Programme, Fatima College, Department of Sociology and Social Work organized the General Medical Camp and Eye Camp for Police Personnel and their family members at Police Club, Near Crime branch Police Station, Madurai.

            General Medical camp and Eye camp in collaboration with Apollo hospitals and Vasan Eye care hospitals respectively conducted by Fatima College. Department of Sociology and Social work supported by Commissioner of  Police, Madurai on 14.12.2019.

Fatima - Library Week

A room without books is like a body without a soul.” ― Marcus Tullius Cicero.

The College celebrated Library Week between 6th and 11th February, 2017. The first day, by inaugurating the library week, on 6^th February 2017 the Fatima college library requested department of sociology and social work to create awareness on library week and library club. The department organized a rally with in the college campus. Here, the students of department of sociology and social work marched towards the library by holding the different kinds of pluk cards which narrates the importance of using library and reading books. It was well received by the fatimites. It was leaded by the Parai Students of the department by playing the parai. After reaching the library, there the parai dance was performed by the students which were witnessed by the college students and staff.  At last, the library Club banner was handover to the Vice Principal and to the Librarian, by the Sociology and Social Work Department students.

During the Last day of the Library week. The department of Sociology and Social work gave a Parai dance and a street theater on the rules of the library, necessity of using the library, and the different programmes offered by the college library for the students benefit. It was a grand success and more than 1000 students got benefited out of the program.

The Library Week was a great learning experience for all the students in College. It reminded the students that books are indeed a man’s best friend!
